Fun with Photoshop, textures and "actions"

Ok...so I have owned Photoshop Elements for over one year and never used it...but after downloading some textures and "actions" to help me along...I am having fun editing some of my pictures!  This is a photo I took in the Stockyards of Ft. Worth...the girl in the picture is texting...and the man sitting near her...sat there forever.  He wasn't part of her "picture with the longhorn" set up...just an interesting looking fellow!
Have a happy weekend!!!!

Thankful for South Texas Sunshine...

I just returned from 5 nights in Seattle, Washington...it was beautiful, rainy and cold.  Getting out of your comfort zone is a good thing...I enjoy seeing people from different places...and getting a glimpse into their day to day lives.  The people that live in Seattle were so great!  They were friendly, confident and full of life.  We met some characters at the Pike Market....

There was amazing fruits and veggies everywhere...I wanted to buy some! The lucky people that live in the apartments downtown go buy fresh veggies and fish for dinner!  The Washington apples were yummy!  I had to try one...

And as we all know...it rains a lot in Seattle!  I was really happy to see the bright Texas sunshine Friday morning!!!!  But I look forward to returning to Seattle someday!

Ft. Worth Stockyards

I recently went on a road trip with my dad and brother...we haven't done anything like this in years!  It was a blast...we attended the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering in the Ft. Worth Historical Stockyards...great place to take some pictures and hear some good music.  We loved the chuck wagon cook-off...all of the cooking done in dutch ovens on the ground with hot coals!  It was a nice trip...with lots of great memories made...I am ready for next year!!

Healthy start to the new school year!

I haven't updated my blog since school started...I have had a busy start to the new school year!  I am still working as a PK-6th grade counselor...and so far everything is going great.

My body has been feeling "older".  Do you know what I mean???  I just have felt sort of sluggish and not great lately and decided that I needed a change in my daily intake of vitamins!  I have an awesome blender - and after lots of research and reading I have been having a smoothie breakfast/snack daily.  Each morning I wake up...and start blending!  The Vitamix blender that I use is totally awesome!  I start out by throwing the following in the blender:  One apple (cored), one orange (peeled),  5 strawberries, some rasperries, about 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries, and occasionally a handful of raw spinach!  Blend for a few seconds...and yum!

This week I will add a scoop of two new supplements to my shake:  Vega & Mila

I will let you know how I feel...so far so good!!!  Page is even having a smoothie breakfast!  Good for our heart and hopefully I will be a healthy gal too!

San Antonio Museum of Art...

Recently I accompanied my brother and sis in law to the San Antonio Museum of Art...
and I took a ton of pictures...

There was an awesome exhibit with many Egyptian artifacts...beautiful sculptures...beautiful paintings...and paintings that made me wonder..."hmmm".

I am not going to post all of those pictures...instead I will just post a few of Rodney, Shenna and I...

We had a great time...with lunch at La Paloma Blanca before the museum....

Summer Lovin....

It has certainly been a wonderful summer...and I really hate to see the "back to school" ads on TV...because that means I have only a few precious days left to soak up some sun, relax and complete the projects that had plans to complete...

I plan on enjoying this coming week...and once I am back at work I will have to look at all the pictures to remind myself of all the fun times spent with family and friends!!!

Have a great week!!!

Self Portrait...Self Discovery

One of my old friends from high school (Heather Rose) is a great photographer...I have admired her pictures for awhile now...and especially her "self portraits".  I was thinking that I would give this a shot...literally!  So today...during some of my vacation time...I decided to play around with taking some self portraits.  Warning...this is not easy!  I felt pretty silly taking pictures of myself...but really this is a great exercise in getting to know yourself!  (and your camera...if you are new to photography...like I am).

So here are some of my attempts...enjoy, laugh, cry...whatever you feel like!
Have a great day!

So, who is going to try this?

Wonderful time in Port A...

We had a wonderful time last week in Port Aransas with Page's family...Ed, Dana, Megan, Trey, Amelia, Nolan, Whitney Cristina and Jonah!!!  Boy the family has grown!  We had some "Aunt Jen and Uncle Page" time with three sweet little bundles of love!  Jonah, Amelia and Nolan!

We had a beautiful condo rented at Seagull Condominiums...unit 905 is a great choice!  Three bedrooms and a living area for all of us to enjoy some wine and visiting...and look out at the beautiful ocean!

I think this needs to be an annual event!  :-)

Cheers to the wonderful grandparents that watched all the kiddos...so the parents and aunt and uncle could enjoy a nice dinner in Port A.  :-)

love, Jen
